Dancin’ Through the Day
BACK-STAGE Notes for ALL
- If you need to talk, WHISPER; very rude/disrespectful to dancers on stage
- If you are not in the next 2 dances...YOU ARE NOT BACKSTAGE (you are in your dressing room, watching for dance)
- If you had a quick change that didn’t work, see Ms.Howitt before show tomorrow!!
- DO NOT go through Exit Door on Stage Right; go ALL THE WAY around back-stage
- NO PHONES!!!! Will be confiscated if we see them during the show!
- Be sure to stay OUT of sight lines (marked off) back stage (ESPECIALLY if in light-up shoes)
NOTES FROM TECH
- no phones backstage
- be quiet
- tell the stage hands if you still haven’t about your quick changes (also if you have a ‘slow change’ which is a quick change with a dance in between)
- if you are late (not a quick change) or in the wrong comstume you should not go on less told other wise
- if there is a quick change wait for the quick change to be done before going on
- please find your light
DANCE NOTES
ACT I
- Wake Up:
- can’t see 2 girls in front at song opening
- Hair Up:
- can’t see Ines in the formation of 4 (out of lights); hold final pose!!
- Bus:
- timing on initial bus driving was MESSY; in wide V-formation at front, stageleft folks are not illuminated (on purpose?)
- Squishy Courts:
- Girl in back row (at beginning) stage left, hair is DOWN; the “WAVE” move is messy; hold final pose!!!
- Math:
- More careful/clean arm-work needed! Be careful NOT to give away when you mess up or forget the step (Elle)
- ELA
- Hold final pose; be more careful with facial expression (more chin up/focus)
- Social Studies
- Timing is messy!! Too much looking at each other….
- Student Store
- More energy in arms and faces
- Break
- PE
- No fidgeting during opening!! Everyone looking somewhere else when first started; work on facial expression!! 2/6 were smiling a lot and the rest, hardly ever;
- Languages
- Messy first dance!! Stop looking around at each other worried!! 2 girls in middle during “Spanish” blocking off? Need to be more in the middle?
- NHD
- Blocking off balance on stage left at opening (girl 3rd from middle too far away?); 3 girls missing costume; hold your final pose!
- Principal's Office
- Timing somewhat messy (especially at start); 1 incomplete costume; hold final pose!!
- Digital Media
- Don’t give away when you’re in wrong spot!! Watch your facial expressions; CHIN UP; MESSY stage right group when they split in half;
- Counseling Office
- Chin up!!

- ‘Wait a minute’: more energy/joy/power in face!! Whole grp: MESSY
ACT II
- Science
- Watch your facial expression!!
- Technology
- 2 people LATE to stage = long transition; Hold final pose!
- Art
- LONG transition; 1 person came on VERY LATE (while already dancing);
- Library
- LONG transition!!;
- Cooking
- Visual and Performing Arts Encore
- Band- Greatest Show
- 2 dancers on late! 2 boys seem to be missing costume? (white shirt and blue shirt? BOYS: remember to leave your vest un-zipped); HOLD final pose
- Drama - Other Side
- White vests don’t fidget! Hold final pose (Ines)
- Orchestra/Strings - Rewrite the Stars
- Dance - From Now On
- Don’t fidget/look at each other when waiting crouched down...keep your face forward; more chins up and smiles and joy/power in the claps!! Sarah late on??

- Audience dancers: remember you’re in the audience but still on stage! Dance!! Don’t talk; have fun, smile!
- Schools Out - Finale
- Get on stage faster; first row remember to look back when you go down at beginning; faces!! Look happy.
